We are so happy that you have chosen to join us in Luang Prabang for this most magical, memorable experience.
We are staying at a luxury Eco Resort by the River Nam Khan - a delicious breakfast is included in your Retreat with plenty of options to satiate adults and children.
Each day offers a balance of activity and down time... plenty of time to fit in an extra massage or explore one of the many Temples or Museums in Luang Prabang.
Spare time Suggestions
There is so much to do in Luang Prabang... here's some suggestions of things to see and do in your down time:
UXO Museum - incredibly informative (and sombering)
Giving of Alms: Every morning the monks receive alms from the devout. It's a beautiful tradition but you have to be up early!
Mount Phousi: Known for watching sunsets but gets incredibly crowded. Takes about 15 mins to get up but think its better to do during the morning when less ppl around.
Visit Wat Xieng Thong (Temple) it's where many kings have been crowned and is known as the holiest place in town.
Traditional Hmong Batik Class. Create a beautiful Indigo Batik artwork or scarf to take home. You pick up your art the next day so make sure to leave time!
Mekong trip to the Cave of 1000 Buddhas. A sacred cave filled with buddhas located on the banks of the river. You have to take a boat to get here.
Enjoy a pedicure / manicure / spa day
Rent a two seater and jaunt around the town.
We are all here to eat #amiright so I have put together this lovely list of places that I have tried myself, would like to try or think you might enjoy!
(Click 'website' below to bring up the google list for yourself)
We have arranged your airport pickup and will greet you at the Hotel on your arrival to guide you through the easy check in.
Enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Resort.
Take a walk, go for a swim or read a book in a comfy chair while the children play.
My Ban Lao is a 12 minute walk to the night market - maybe you’d like to wander down and have a snack there or grab some dried mangos (me and the kids fave!)
My Ban Lao is a beautiful Eco Resort located a 12 minute walk from the Night Market of Luang Prabang.
All rooms have universal power outlets (no need for an adaptor), AC, private bathroom and good wifi signal.
You will find a coffee shop, restaurant, beautiful swimming pool and a spa on site.
My Ban Lao also has a turtle sanctuary which will delight the children and provide an educational experience to our young guests.
Grab dinner at the Hotel or head into town on the shuttle and dine at the night market or one of the many delicious restaurants in town. The choice is yours!
After Breakfast it's time for a massage. I've booked you a 90 minute aromatherapy or Thai massage (per your request) starting at 10am, 10:30 and 11:30am. I'll keep an eye on the kids while you relax into your vacation at the spa.
In the evening we will head to the Night Market where you can spend some time perusing and we will show you the many options where you can go for dinner.
From Street food (eggs on a stick?) pizza, buffalo steak and of course fine dining - Luang Prabang has something for everyone.
Experiencing food in the company of locals is one of the best ways to get to know an area.
You might want to skip breakfast before we meet with a local chef and explore Luang Prabang whilst trying 15 delicious foods. A Chefs Tour takes us to places that we would not normally know about if we explored on our own.
This is a walking tour but we are a private group so we can take it at our pace.
You will be collected at 2pm and brought to the Manda Lao elephant sanctuary where you will learn about the history of the elephant industry and what they are doing to help the population.
This is an ethical experience with minimal contact with the elephants. We know people who have worked at this center and can confirm that they are always treated with the respect and care that these beautiful elephants deserve.
MandaLao believes in rehabilitating elephants into the wild wherever possible. The ones you will meet have been rescued from logging and tourism (riding) industry. They cannot be reintroduced to the wild and as such are given a restful, healthful life here.
These elephants are never made to perform. We do not bathe nor ride them. It will be one of the memories your family takes home and thinks about for a lifetime!
9am: After breakfast we will make our way to Kuang Si Waterfalls.
We start the visit at the Bear Sanctuary where you will see many bears who have been rescued from captivity and the medicine industry.
We will then head up to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall to see its most breathtaking vista. You will then have the opportunity to enjoy swimming in one of the gorgeous (and sometimes chilly!) pools. There are many shallow parts for little ones to enjoy too.
On the way home we will stop at a Traditional Thai Bamboo House Restaurant for lunch (cost excluded)
We will head out at 10 to visit The Buffalo Dairy which was established by two Australian couples and plays an important part in farming education in the area.
This farm uses ethical and sustainable practices and produces the most delicious buffalo dairy products.
A family favorite with lots of fun activities for the kids - we wrap up the afternoon with a delicious ice cream for us all.
It's your last day in Luang Prabang so enjoy your free day by adding in a day to relax or add an extra activity from our suggestions at the top of the itinerary.
Enjoy free time on your last day in Luang Prabang.
We will wrap up our memorable week with a Sunset Cruise on the Mekong.
Snacks, traditional entertainment and refreshments will be provided as you watch the sun setting over the Mighty Mekong.
After the cruise we will take the short walk into town and enjoy dinner together to celebrate the end of a wonderful week.
We will arrange and take care of your taxi to the airport.
Thank you so much for joining us. 🫶
